美元指数(92.3333, 0.0113, 0.01%)开年以来逐步逆转了此前在2020年内大多数时间录得的下跌趋势，转入了中期反弹浪潮，在今年一季度，美元指数累计上涨3.6%，逆转了此前连续三个季度录得下跌的趋势。虽然这一升势尚属相对缓和，但是无论如何，美元汇价由跌转涨的趋势，已经开始改变了整个金融市场的交易逻辑。
加拿大黄金银行资本市场的首席美国股市策略师Lori Calvasina就指出，通常而言，扣除其他变量因素的话，美元走强会对美股走势带来负面影响，因为这会使国际资金进入美国资本市场的融资成本上升。然而，美元走强却经常也是美国经济进入领先于全球其他发达经济体的增长周期的先行信号，在此大背景下，股市仍有上行动力。这也方能够解释，在今年一季度美元反弹的同时，美股三大指数仍然在高位维持了相对坚挺的走势。
但尽管如此，美元汇价若在此后进一步上行，仍会对股市走势额外施压，因美元汇价走势往往也与美债收益率保持同步，而后者在开年以来已经急剧走高，其所反映的就是市场利率水平的回升，而这则会一方面令企业融资成本上升，压缩其利润空间，一方面又使得股市的价值投资回报率相比固定收益资产不再具有优势，这可能推动资金的流向发生进一步变化。而从历史经验来看，当经济进入增长周期出现美联储政策趋于收紧的“再通胀”预期后，美元汇价的上行也会意味着货币流动性供给的开始趋紧，对于股市而言这不是什么好消息。
而在美国受疫情影响趋于淡出的前景下，美国经济也确实有望在全球发达经济体领先实现复苏，这之中的直接影响就是美元汇价趋于走强。虽然美元指数目前仍相当一年前同期有6%的相对跌幅，但是已经明显地脱离了年初的低谷，尤其是在受到了美国疫苗注射进度远远快于欧元(1.1872, 0.0000, 0.00%)区这一消息的带动之后。作为美元的主要对手盘货币，欧元兑美元年内累计下跌超过4%。同时，乐观经济预估也令避免日元遭受抛压，从而，在一季度最后一个交易日，美元兑日元(109.81, 0.0400, 0.04%)汇价触及了一年多高位。
而分析师指出，无论是大盘股还是小盘股，其盈利环境都在美国经济加速复苏与美元升值的过程中陷入了多空拉锯争夺之中，在“再通胀”交易继续深化的背景下，上游产业，如能源、制造业与原材料行业的表现将额外面对资金供给趋紧的冲击，但是信贷资金敏感度更低的下游产业链个股，如消费品、科技及医疗板块，则仍会是经济复苏的受益者。这也就是近日以来在坊间已被热炒的“板块轮动”概念。
但无论如何，美元走强，银根紧缩的局面若延续下去，对于股市多头仍非福音。在市场利率升高的背景下，最终或许仅有金融板块会维持一枝独秀。因为，当美债收益率进一步走升，带动美元汇价继续上涨之后，美元计价的大宗商品价格势将更多承压，而股市去年触底之后持续享受的流动性盛宴，也可能在年底之际随着美联储进入宽松政策缩减周期而开始散场。这可能会引发股市价值重估的浪潮，而在此过程中，如何安抚市场，避免大盘出现2018年底时那样的恐慌性抛售潮，也就成了美联储需要未雨绸缪去处置的课程。好在，在过去两年间经历了更多的风雨之后，美联储想必已经在这一领域变得更加驾轻就熟。
