据美国约翰霍普斯金大学4月9日的数据显示，截至美国东部时间4月8日23点59分，在过去24小时内，美国新增新冠肺炎确诊病例79878例，较前一日又增加了4840例；新增相关死亡1000例。
德国9日新增确诊感染新冠病毒人数达到25464人，创下该国今年1月初以来的新高。德国副总理兼财长朔尔茨当天表示，德国联邦政府正寻求通过修改法律的方式在全国范围内实施统一的“封城”措施。
针对德国当前疫情数据，疾控机构罗伯特科赫研究所负责人威勒当天在柏林举行的记者会上表示，受复活节假期影响，预计要到下周周中方能得出能够反映疫情真实情况的新增确诊人数。他呼吁人们重视疫情的严重性：目前重症患者人数正在增多，且青少年转为重症的比例正在升高，“ICU重症病床很快将被完全占满”。
日本方面，首相菅义伟表示，日本将在东京、京都和冲绳重新实施限制措施，以遏制这些地区新冠疫情的快速蔓延。东京三周前刚刚解除了紧急状态。这些措施将于4月12日开始实施，东京持续到5月11日，京都和冲绳持续到5月5日。大阪、兵库和宫城已经采取了类似的限制措施。
