美国总统拜登说，俄罗斯总统普京将面临干预2020年11月美国总统大选以使结果偏向特朗普一方的后果，且这些后果很快就会到来。
“他将为此付出代价，”拜登在周三播出的ABC新闻采访中说。当被问及后果时，他说:“你很快就会知道了。”
拜登指出，“在一些符合我们共同利益的地方进行合作”，例如续签《削减战略武器条约》(START)核协议。他还说，两位领导人有众所周知的历史。
拜登说:“我对他比较了解。”他还说，“根据我的经验，在与外国领导人打交道时，最重要的是……就是认识另一个人。”
拜登表示，他在1月下旬的通话中，警告普京美国可能会对俄罗斯干涉美国大选做出回应。
“他会付出代价，”拜登说，“我们谈了很长时间……如果我确定发生了这件事，那就做好准备。”
对于普京，拜登表示，他不认为这位俄罗斯领导人有灵魂。当被问及他是否认为普京是“侩子手”时，他对美国广播公司说:“我认为是。”
与此同时，白宫周三表示，俄罗斯将被追究责任。
白宫发言人普萨基说，拜登总统领导的民主党政府在处理与俄罗斯关系方面采取了与前共和党总统特朗普不同的方式。
“俄罗斯人肯定会为他们所采取的行动负责，”她说道。
受拜登言论的影响，俄罗斯汇市发生震荡。据莫斯科证券交易所官网消息，截至莫斯科当天15时，卢布汇率下挫至1美元兑换73.74卢布，欧元汇率突破87.685卢布。
周二，美国一份情报报告支持了俄罗斯试图干预2020年美国总统大选的长期指控。俄罗斯称这种指控毫无根据。
俄罗斯外交部发表称，已将驻美大使安托诺夫(Anatoly Antonov)召回莫斯科，以讨论俄美关系的未来。
