EA是将交易员的交易思路在有限的条件下程序化，通过EA做到全时段盯盘的交易模式，所以说判断EA和判断交易员能力是一个意思。
其中几个重点包括：盈利成果、资金回撤幅度、损益比、花费时间、稳定性等等，一个EA的盈利绩效如果大起大落，那么将很有可能直接失足爆仓。
另一个需要留意的是它所经历过的时间，市面上有太多EA只测试了一周或者一个月就发布到市场上，测试时间太短，一定程度上来说没有参考性，至少需要经过3~6个月的测试期，确定可以承受几个月内突发消息或是新闻数据的波动的情况，这样才能算是勉强及格的EA产品。
