欧元/美元周二（5月18日）上涨至1.2233，这是今年2月以来的最高水平，因为投机兴趣不断抛售美元，美联储官员重申，尽管通胀压力不断上升，但他们不会改变目前的超宽松货币政策。亚洲股市上涨，但欧洲和美国股市涨跌互现，这帮助美元在当日收盘前收复了一些失地。
数据方面，欧洲公布了对第一季度国内生产总值（GDP）的修正值，与之前的估计相符，季度环比下降0.6%。年度数据也保持不变，为下滑1.8%。美国公布的4月份建筑许可温和增长0.3%，而当月新屋开工下降9.5%。
周三，欧盟将公布4月份通胀数据的终值，而美联储将公布其最新一次会议纪要。市场人士将从中寻找有关美联储对当前通胀飙升看法的线索。美元可能会进一步下跌，因为美联储可能会重复它的信息。
纽约Bannockburn Forex首席市场策略师Marc Chandler表示：“鉴于美元自上周遭遇抛售以来一直未能大幅反弹，这告诉我，推动美元升值的不是外汇市场，而是利率市场。如果不提高利率，很难看到美元有多大的吸引力。”
“美联储仍在说，他们将非常有耐心，”Chandler补充道。“如果美国不提供更高的利率，美元将承担负担，这就是我们现在的处境。”

欧元/美元回落至1.2200区域，之后反弹至1.2230区域。近期情况表明，汇价可能会出现修正性的下跌，尽管这也表明多头处于控制之中。在4小时图表中，该货币兑在所有移动均线之上发展，20移动均线加速向上，高于较长的移动均线。技术指标从极端指数回落，但稳定在超买水平内。风险偏向上行，一旦突破1.2240这一近期阻力位，该货币对可能扩大升势，并继续向年内高点1.2349延伸。

英镑/美元
英镑/美元从高点回落，现在距离1.4200门槛还有几个小点。近期走势显示多头暂时停歇，但仍保持控制。4小时图表显示，技术指标从盘中高点回落，动量保持在积极水平，相对强弱指数在69附近巩固。在同一图表中，20移动均线加速走高，高于较长期均线并低于当前水平，表明持续的买入兴趣。今年的高点是1.4237，超过这个水平将在接下来的交易日确认看涨势头的延伸。
