在创出近三年时间里的最高值后，人民币汇率引起了中国金融部门的极大关注。国务院金融稳定发展委员会和央行在三天之内先后“点名”人民币汇率，如此密集表态原因何在？
从中新社记者观察来看，今年以来，人民币汇率走势基本分成三个阶段，1至2月在6.45一线上下波动震荡，3月贬值较为明显，在岸人民币对美元即期汇率在3月30日一度跌至6.5793，触及年内最低点，4月份至今，人民币汇率开启波动上涨，5月10日更是涨至6.4103，创近三年来最高值。
为何此时官方密集“点名”？有观点认为，为应对进口大宗商品价格上涨，应进一步推动人民币汇率升值。
但是，随着中国近年来推进汇率市场化改革，央行已基本退出对人民币汇率的常态化干预，这就意味着央行对人民币汇率涨跌波动的容忍度大幅提升，现在人民币汇率的变动主要取决于市场供求而非央行。在此背景下，上述观点本就不符合汇率市场化改革的大方向。
5月21日，国务院金融稳定发展委员会召开第五十一次会议，要求进一步推动利率汇率市场化改革，保持人民币汇率在合理均衡水平上的基本稳定。
中国央行副行长刘国强23日就人民币汇率问题答记者问。他指出，目前，中国外汇市场自主平衡，人民币汇率由市场决定，汇率预期平稳。
刘国强称，中国央行完善以市场供求为基础、参考一篮子货币进行调节、有管理的浮动汇率制度，这一制度在当前和未来一段时期都是适合中国的汇率制度安排。中国央行将注重预期引导，发挥汇率调节宏观经济和国际收支自动稳定器作用，保持人民币汇率在合理均衡水平上的基本稳定。
国际金融问题专家赵庆明认为，央行是在向市场传递出一种信号，重视与市场沟通和维持一定的管理浮动仍是央行的重要工作，“无论当前还是未来一段时期，（央行）不会放任人民币汇率不管。”
中国外汇投资研究院院长谭雅玲亦指出，金融部门此时出来喊话，也是对近期人民币汇率走势的一种纠偏。人民币单边升值的行情造成的压力和恐慌比较大，尤其是有些人在单边预期人民币升值，这不符合市场的规律，也不符合中国的实际状况。
人民币汇率未来怎么走？“未来人民币汇率的走势将继续取决于市场供求和国际金融市场变化，双向波动成为常态。”刘国强给出如此判断。
短期看，中国银行研究院高级研究员王有鑫认为，下半年支撑人民币汇率的国内积极因素将继续发挥作用，但外部市场的不确定性将导致人民币更多呈现双向波动、宽幅震荡的特点。
他指出，一方面，全球经济复苏加快，中国和主要经济体在经济复苏方面的差异将逐渐收敛，对人民币汇率的支撑作用可能会有所减弱。另一方面，随着美国经济复苏加快，美联储可能会在今年四季度缩减资产购买计划，美债收益率可能会继续抬升，美元指数(89.7700, -0.0632, -0.07%)将触底反弹，国际金融市场将迎来新一轮冲击。
对长期走势则有观点认为，美联储再度实施超常规宽松政策，未来中长期内，美元将进入弱周期，而随着美元的走弱，包括人民币在内的非美货币有望中长期走强，进入升值通道。
中国央行金融研究所所长周诚君近日表示，总体看，人民币汇率在中长期内将持续对美元升值。这既是中国经济持续增长、人民币相对购买力不断提高的结果，也是美联储搞量化宽松和不断扩表的后果之一，而且经验数据也表明，多数成功迈过中等收入陷阱的国家人均收入超过10000美元后，其货币将对美元汇率呈持续升值趋势。
