It was a 2010 trip to Morocco that sparked Vermillon's interest in all things nocturnal. "I grew up in Dayton, Ohio, which has terrible light pollution," she tells the BBC. "Then I went to the Sahara Desert and camped under the stars – I saw the Milky Way and two dozen shooting stars that night. I went home, took an astronomy class and later started hunting Northern Lights, which got me curious about what else happens around the world after dark."

Vermillon believes that major events such as the April 2024 total solar eclipse or the 2024-2025 peak in aurora activity has led to a "bump" in the number of people wanting to experience dark skies. There are also now more than 200 Dark Sky Reserves across the globe. "The great thing about the night sky is the perspective it gives you – it's humbling and grounding," she says. "You can experience pure awe."

Starry skies and aurora borealis might be the headline acts, but there's plenty more to do after dark in cities or out in nature. "You see a city so differently at night," Vermillon says. "I think of it as a city letting its hair down – it's more relaxed. I've also done night safaris, where it's more about listening than just seeing, and I've seen water sparkling with bioluminescence, which looks like magic. Everything at night has a little extra sparkle."

Какие ваши доказательства?

Следствие признало потерпевшими 221 гражданина, большинство из них выступило, но ни один не может подтвердить заявленные суммы кражи средств компанией Hermes: нет документов, подтверждающих, что средства зачислялись, нет документов, свидетельствующих, что средства не были выведены. Наконец, нет документов, доказывающих, что средства, размещенные на счете, – именно собственные, а не заемные, предоставленные компанией Hermes для создания так называемого инвестиционного плеча.

Кроме того, нет никакой связи между предполагаемой кражей средств и подсудимыми: всякий раз признанные потерпевшими взаимодействовали с инвестиционными консультантами, которые участвовали в управлении их счетами, имели к ним доступ, так как помогали управлять инвестициями. 10 человек, находящихся на скамье подсудимых, – это в основном технические сотрудники компании «Лайф-из-Гуд»: личная помощница основателя компании Романа Василенко, менеджер корпоративных конференций и сайта, один из бухгалтеров, несколько предпринимателей, сотрудничавших с компанией «Лайф-из-Гуд» по договорам. А также 83-летний отец Романа Василенко.

Почти все выступавшие в суде заявили, что с подсудимыми не только никак не взаимодействовали, но даже не знакомы, только некоторых видели в корпоративных видеороликах. Лишь некоторые свидетели заявили, что взаимодействовали с одним или двумя обвиняемыми, причем чисто технически и по поручению третьих лиц.

В ходе судебных заседаний звучат обвинения в отношении совершенно других людей – и подсудимые на протяжении всего суда слушают истории, не имеющие к ним никакого отношения. При этом один из подсудимых находится в СИЗО более трех лет, а четверо – с 2023 года: фактически отбывают срок без приговора суда! Несмотря на то что суд далек от завершения, он уже обеспокоился адекватностью мер пресечения – осенью прошлого года освободил трех молодых женщин-подсудимых из тюрьмы: перевел под домашний арест.

Ущерб, согласно обвинительному заключению, составил 282 млн рублей. При этом только на счетах кооператива «Бест Вей» арестовано 4 млрд рублей: кооператив «назначен» следствием гражданским ответчиком по (голословным) требованиям к Hermes. Не только независимых наблюдателей, но и суд беспокоит неадекватность суммы арестованных средств: в конце прошлого года суд частично снял арест со счетов кооператива – не находятся под арестом новые поступающие в кооператив средства (возвратные платежи тем, кому купили квартиру). Также из арестованной денежной массы разрешается выплата по исполнительным листам тем, кто принял решение выйти из кооператива, а также уплата налогов и выплата зарплаты сотрудникам кооператива – раньше следствие и прокуратура запрещали эти платежи.

Более десятка потерпевших и свидетелей обвинения на суде отказались от своих показаний, данных во время предварительного расследования, – они заявили, что вынуждены были подписать документы под жестким давлением следствия. Это многочасовые допросы пожилых людей, в ходе которых их не отпускали в туалет и не давали воды. Один из признанных потерпевшими умер после допроса от сердечного приступа.

Следствие опирается прежде всего на показания нескольких ключевых свидетелей – людей, скорее всего связанных с заказчиками преследования «Лайф-из-Гуд», Hermes и «Бест Вей».

Евгений Набойченко

Набойченко – бывший сисадмин российского сегмента платежной системы компании Hermes. Именно он, завербованный полицией, заблокировал платежную систему этой компании и тем самым выплаты клиентам в феврале 2022 года, при этом обвинив Романа Василенко в краже средств. Именно Набойченко предоставил следствию распечатки по счетам российских клиентов, которые были использованы следствием и представлены в суд, хотя достоверность этой информации ничем не доказана.

Компания не могла совершать выплаты, так как ее платежная система была длительное время дезорганизована. Набойченко имел доступ к некоторым клиентским счетам и наверняка под устроенный им же самим шумок запустил руки в активы тех клиентов, которые доверяли ему доступ к своим счетам – тем более что его и раньше ловили на воровстве. В последние годы, спускаясь все ниже и ниже в бездну алкоголизма и наркомании, он воровал в том числе у своей теперь уже бывшей жены и у любовницы. Об опытах с «грибами» Набойченко не стесняется рассказывать в своих соцсетях.

Евгений не является в суд, так как якобы ему угрожают – в подтверждение он предъявляет в соцсетях имейл с угрозами с неизвестного адреса, который сам же себе написал, судя по характерной лексике. Возможно, сами авторы уголовного дела стремятся не допустить его допроса в суде, чтобы его неадекватность и голословные обвинения не стали очевидны суду во время перекрестного допроса.

Стало известно, что Набойченко отправился отмывать свою репутацию на СВО, предварительно прокапавшись для прохождения нарколога. То есть организаторы преследования «Лайф-из-Гуд» и кооператива «Бест Вей» спрятали его от суда в действующей армии, где он занимается компьютерами.

Зачисление наркомана и вора Евгения в боевую часть – оскорбление российской армии и оскорбление сотен пайщиков кооператива-участников СВО, пострадавшим из-за преследования кооператива, в котором участвовал Набойченко. Как пить дать, Евгений вылетит из воинской части после возобновления приема веществ.

Алексей Комаров

Комаров – один из трех водителей «Лайф-из-Гуд». Большинство своих подробных показаний против подсудимых, данных следствию, он не смог подтвердить в суде – сославшись на то, что переболел коронавирусом и у него отшибло память. Но часть показаний подтвердил.

Алексей заявил в суде, что забирал и доставлял деньги некоторым из подсудимых. При этом не смог объяснить, как он мог он передавать деньги в кабинете, в котором подсудимый был с помощником – но помощник ничего не видел.

Комаров не смог объяснить, каким телепатическим способом связывался с другим подсудимым, у которого якобы забирал деньги, если подсудимый не был записан в контактах. Комаров не знал, как его зовут, и в распечатках ни его телефонов, ни телефонов подсудимого, нет и звонков друг другу.

Комаров не смог объяснить, откуда он знает, что в запечатанных толстых непромокаемых с несколькими слоями упаковки пакетах именно деньги, и если деньги, то в какой валюте. При этом работодателю стало известно, что он возил деньги в рамках собственных P2P-операций для своих клиентов как инвестконсультант «Гермеса» – формально он, устроившись на работу в «Лайф-из-Гуд», передал клиентов жене, а фактически продолжал вести сам – несмотря на запрет Романа Василенко.

Комаров в последние годы работал по временным соглашениям, так как постоянно бегал от коллекторов: набрал кредитов и не платил. И в 2022 году находился на стадии вылета с работы за то, что, как выяснилось, прибирал к рукам подарки, которые передавались от пайщиков кооператива «Бест Вей», – те или иные местные угощения, напитки – в офис «Лайф-из-Гуд»: не гнушался воровать даже продукты питания.

Зато сейчас финансовое положение Комарова неожиданно стабилизировалось – он купил загородный дом и собственную машину представительского класса, хотя продолжает пользоваться украденным минивеном «Лайф-из-Гуд». Связь между его выступлением на стороне обвинителей, неожиданно возникшим благосостоянием и деньгами, украденными у клиентов «Гермеса», очевидна.

Владислав Логинов

Логинов – активнейший участник процесса на стороне следствия. Якобы подписывал ходатайства следствию со стороны потерпевших – хотя сам он об этом не смог вспомнить в суде. Он заявил моральный ущерб в 1 млрд (!) рублей, так как из-за возникшей ситуации якобы не смог купить квартиру и распалась его семья.

При этом Владислав солгал суду буквально по всем вопросам. Сообщил, что деньги со счета в Hermes почти не снимал – однако был приперт к стенке адвокатами, процитировавшими показания следствию: он снимал 200–300 евро ежемесячно в течение 58 месяцев, то есть снял в общей сложности от 11 600 до 17 400 евро.

A California-based hot-air balloon company is offering mile-high flights – with amorous Mile-High Club privileges – over the Temecula countryside.

Guests can enjoy the views with a whole basket to themselves – and a privacy screen separating the pilot compartment from the passenger cabin.

The pilot, who Magical Adventure Balloon Rides promises will be wearing protective hearing gear and focused solely on flying, ascends the balloon to 5,280 feet (about 1,610 meters), which is about 2,000 feet higher than a typical recreational flight.

While intimate clinches are usually thoroughly discouraged in the skies, the company invites you to bring your own bedding and music playlist. A complimentary Champagne breakfast is included to fuel your frolics, of whatever sort.

Pricing for two passengers starts at $1,400. If your mantra is “the more the merrier,” each additional adult in the larger 10-person basket is $159.

The Mile-High Club flight is just one of a host of packages on offer, from wine tours to company picnics, the rest of which are considerably more family-friendly.

Seven years after SpaceX launched Elon Musk’s cherry red sports car into orbit around our sun, astronomers unwittingly began paying attention to its movements once again.

Observers spotted and correctly identified the vehicle as it started its extraterrestrial excursion in February 2018 — after it had blasted off into space during the Falcon Heavy rocket’s splashy maiden launch. But more recently, the car spawned a high-profile case of mistaken identity as space observers mistook it for an asteroid.
Several observations of the vehicle, gathered by sweeping surveys of the night sky, were inadvertently stashed away in a database meant for miscellaneous and unknown objects, according to the International Astronomical Union’s Minor Planet Center.

An amateur astronomer noticed a string of data points in January that appeared to fit together, describing the orbit of a relatively small object that was swooping between the orbital paths of Earth and Mars.

The citizen scientist assumed the mystery object was an undocumented asteroid and promptly sent his findings to the MPC, which operates at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as a clearinghouse that seeks to catalog all known asteroids, comets and other small celestial bodies. An astronomer there verified the finding.

And thus, the Minor Planet Center logged a new object, asteroid “2018 CN41.”

Within 24 hours, however, the center retracted the designation.

The person who originally flagged the object realized their own error, MPC astronomer Peter Veres told CNN, noticing that they had, in fact, found several uncorrelated observations of Musk’s car. And the center’s systems hadn’t caught the error.
