法国驻美国大使馆、法国国家工艺美术学院和物流公司CMA CGM集团联合发布的一份新闻稿称，一个近10英尺高的自由女神像复制品将在今年夏天亮相两次。
这座青铜雕塑是由法国雕塑家弗雷德里克·奥古斯特·巴托尔迪（Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi）在1878年创作原始地标雕像时使用的石膏模型制成。今年夏天，这座自由女神像将在纽约市和华盛顿特区限时展出。
6月19日，这座自由女神像将在上诺曼底主要港口勒阿弗尔“登上”一艘轮船，开始为期9天的横渡大西洋之旅。抵达纽约后，这座迷你雕像就会准备展出。在纽约期间，这座雕像将于7月1日至7月5日在位于纽约港的埃利斯岛展出，美国“独立日”假期的游客正好可以观赏。埃利斯岛和美国自由女神像所在的自由岛之间的距离不到1英里。
